Every 28th day

The moon goes away

No one questions why

Or even gives a sigh

Women must look beautiful day after day

And we don’t get any pay

But what if like the moon, sometimes we want to go away

Why must we show the same beauty everyday

Why must we be the perfect height, color, and size

To be perfect in everyone’s eyes

It wears us down til we’re filled with sorrow

But we know we must do it again tomorrow

What if everything wasn’t this way

And showing our true self was ok

Our lips wouldn’t need to be painted maroon

For us to be as beautiful as the moon

We are allowed to put our minds to rest

This helps us be at our best

So remember this, just like the moon is everyday

You are beautiful in every way.
