Life can be as bright and joyful as the glistening cherry atop a cupcake jar.

As colorful as the dozens of games used for family game night,

Or like the foam Boogie Board that reminds you of a hot summer day.

Then there are times of pain and sorrow.

What once were beautiful, vibrant plants, wither at the touch of my mother’s care.

Knowing the mysterious teal walls that surround me watch as I sleep.

And through heartbreak like a bulging bag tearing at the seams.

Somehow we manage to find comfort when we think all hope is lost.

Through the calming movement of glitter swirling in a phone case.

The rainbow paper snowflake that hangs off a wine rack for years without question.

Hearing the soothing sound of music vibrate off the strings of a glistening cello.

And cherishing the new memories we make from a blank canvas.
